Sophie La Rosière by Iris Häussler

Häussler is interested in the fragile boundaries between fiction and reality. In her immersive installations, fictitious stories cross the line into reality through detailed character biographies and the material evidence of their obsessive lives and works. She also creates series of objects cast in wax, works that speak the language of moments frozen in time, of objects robbed of their functions to become artifacts under preservation and conservation while also subject to the vulnerability of the material encasing them.

Workshop the artist statement

Located in the Distillery District, Le Labo is well connected with both the artistic and the francophone communities. Le Labo's mandate is to foster incubation, innovation, creation and production in the media arts with an emphasis on promoting artistic collaboration and providing an environment for its exhibition and performance. In addition to providing access to media production studio space with professional state-of-the-art technology, Le Labo's annual programming includes residencies, exhibitions, installations, workshops, conferences and artist talks.
